- The SKF Discharge Check Pen (EDD Pen) is an easy-to-use hand-held instrument that can detect discharges in electric motor bearings. If electrical discharge occurs due to discharge from the bearing to ground due to voltage on the motor shaft, it will lead to electrolytic corrosion, deterioration of the lubricant, and ultimately failure of the bearing.
