TI's TL08x series was one of the earliest monolithic JFET input op amps.
TI (Texas Instruments) and NSC (National Semiconductor) were developed long before the merger of TI and NSC (National Semiconductor) at a time when the two companies were competing for supremacy. NSC's LF356, which was developed around the same time, is a JFET input standard, but the TL07x series is also popular. While the LF356 is a two-stage differential amplifier for full-scale industrial use, the TL08x series has the character of a general-purpose operational amplifier NJM4558 (RC4558), which was on the way to a big break at the time, and replaced the first stage with a JFET. The same TI TL07x series should have been said to be a low noise type for the TL08x series, but there is no difference on the current datasheet. (Differentiation such as ranking often disappears with advances in technology for old semiconductor products.)
