Shin-Etsu Silicone KF-96-500CS is a colorless, transparent dimethylpolysiloxane fluid with a viscosity of 500 centistokes (mm²/s) at 25 °C. It belongs to the KF-96 series and serves as a high-performance mold-release and lubricating silicone oil.
“500 cs” denotes a kinematic viscosity of 500 centistokes measured at 25 °C. Higher centistoke values indicate a thicker fluid that adheres longer to mold surfaces, enhancing release performance and lubrication longevity.

The KF-96 line spans viscosities from 0.65 cs to 5,000 cs. KF-96-500CS sits in the mid-to-high range, offering a balance between flowability and durable film strength. KF-96L grades (0.65–5 cs) excel in spraying and fine lubrication, while KF-96H grades (6,000–1,000,000 cs) provide ultra-thick films. All KF-96 dimethyl fluids are completely miscible regardless of viscosity.
Yes. Its silicone backbone provides excellent dielectric properties, making it ideal for insulating applications. It also repels water and resists attack by acids, bases and solvents commonly encountered in industrial environments.
Thoroughly clean and dry the mold surface.
Apply a thin, even film of KF-96-500CS by brushing, wiping with a lint-free cloth or using a compatible spray (e.g., KF-96SP aerosol).
Allow a few seconds for the film to level and wet out the surface before starting the molding cycle.
Reapply periodically to maintain consistent release performance.
Keep containers tightly sealed when not in use to prevent contamination and moisture ingress.
Store in a cool, dry place between 0 °C and 40 °C, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents.
Wear chemical-resistant gloves and safety goggles during application.
Ensure adequate ventilation to minimize inhalation of mist or aerosol.
Do not ingest; avoid prolonged skin contact.
Refer to the manufacturer’s MSDS for detailed handling, first aid and disposal guidelines.
When stored under recommended conditions, KF-96-500CS remains stable for at least 1–2 years. Common packaging options include 1 kg cans, 16 kg cans and 200 kg drums.
