What do the usage categories AC1 and AC3 for TeSys contactors mean?
Contactor usage categories define make/break current values based on the type of load they control and the operating cycle conditions: AC-1: Applies to all AC equipment with a power factor of 0.95 or greater. Usage examples: resistive loads, heaters, power distribution, etc. AC-3: Applies to three-phase squirrel cage motors where breaking occurs while the motor is running.
