What do the usage categories AC1 and AC3 mean for TeSys contactors?
The contactor usage category defines make/break current values based on the type of load being controlled and operating cycle conditions.
AC-1: Applies to all AC equipment with a power factor of 0.95 or higher. Usage examples: resistive loads, heaters, power distribution, etc.
AC-3: Applies to three-phase squirrel cage motors where a break occurs during motor operation. Usage examples: All three-phase squirrel cage motors, elevators, escalators, conveyors, bucket elevators, compressors, pumps, mixers, air conditioning units, etc.
