- High-Speed Steel (HSS)
- Cobalt-alloy HSS
- Titanium-coated HSS
It does not support superhard carbide bits or masonry/concrete bits.
The machine handles twist drill bits with diameters from 10mm up to 20mm.
- Point angle (included angle): 118°
- Relief angle: 10°
These settings match standard steel-drilling profiles and can be fine-tuned via the point-setting gauge.
- Mount the point-setting gauge into the chuck.
- Insert the drill bit until its tip lightly contacts the gauge.
- Tighten the chuck, remove the gauge, and proceed with grinding following the user manual steps.
You can run the grinder continuously for up to 15 minutes. After each cycle, allow the motor to cool for 5 - 10 minutes.
The grinding wheel spins at a fixed 18,500 RPM, delivering a smooth, sharp edge on the drill bit.
No. The X20 N-896 operates at a single power rating of 148W and a fixed wheel speed of 18,500 RPM. There is no variable frequency drive.
- Rated voltage: AC 100V
- Power consumption: 148W
- Frequency: 50/60 Hz
- Dimensions (W × D × H): 263 x 185 x 203mm
- Net weight: 5.2 kg (including chuck and gauge)
- Drill-bit chuck (installed)
- Mounted point-setting gauge
- User manual
- Replacement point-setting gauge (model 1626)
- Chip collector kit (model N-896-4)
- After each 15-minute use, power off and allow a 5 - 10 minute cool-down.
- Brush away swarf and dust with a soft-bristle brush - do not use water or solvents.
- Inspect the grinding wheel regularly; replace if deep grooves or balance issues appear.
Replace the wheel when you notice any of the following:
- Deep abrasive grooves that affect bit geometry
- Cracks, chips, or signs of imbalance
- Consistent vibration during operation
- Always wear eye protection and hearing protection.
- Ensure the machine is securely mounted on a stable surface.
- Do not exceed the recommended continuous run time.
- Keep hands and loose clothing away from the rotating wheel.

- Machine won’t start: check power supply, fuse, and plug connection.
- Excessive wheel vibration: stop the machine, inspect the wheel for cracks or imbalance, and replace if necessary.
- Poor grinding quality: verify correct point and relief angles, ensure the wheel is not worn out, and confirm the bit is securely clamped.
