FAQ for Nakamura (KANON) E-PEAK30 300mm Max/Min Automatic Hold Digital Caliper:
1/ What is the E-PEAK30 digital caliper?
The E-PEAK30 is a 300mm stainless-steel digital caliper from Nakamura (KANON) featuring automatic recording of maximum (MAX) and minimum (MIN) measured values, plus absolute and relative measurement modes.
2/ What applications is it best suited for?
It’s ideal for precision external, internal, and depth measurements in quality control, production lines, inspection labs, and any scenario requiring quick tracking of size variations.
3/ How does the Max/Min automatic hold work?
During continuous measurement, the caliper constantly updates and displays the highest and lowest readings detected, alongside the real-time value.
4/ Can I switch between millimeters and inches?
Yes. Press the “mm/inch” button to toggle between metric and imperial units instantly.
5/ Is zero-setting available at any position?
Absolutely. You can set the zero reference at any jaw position for relative comparisons or differential measurements.
6/ Does it have absolute (ABS) and relative (REL) modes?
Yes. Use the “ABS/REL” button to switch between absolute measurements (from the factory zero) and relative measurements (from your custom zero point).
7/ How do I power on/off the caliper?
Press and hold the ON/OFF button for one second.
8/ How do I set the zero at a custom position?
Close or open the jaws to the desired point, then press the “zero” button. The display will read “0.00” from that position onward.
9/ How do I switch between ABS and REL modes?
With the unit powered on, press the “ABS/REL” button. The display will indicate the active mode.
10/ How should I clean the caliper after use?
Wipe down the jaws and beam with a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn grime, lightly dampen the cloth with isopropyl alcohol. Avoid immersing the tool in liquids.
11/ When should I replace the battery?
Replace the SR44 cell as soon as the display dims or the “LO” low-battery icon appears to prevent measurement errors.
12/ How should I store the caliper when not in use?
Keep it in its protective case, away from humidity and direct sunlight. Store on a flat surface to prevent jaw misalignment.
13/ Can I lubricate the sliding surfaces?
Use a tiny amount of light machine oil on the beam occasionally. Wipe off any excess to avoid attracting debris.
14/ The display is blank or very faint. What do I do?
Replace the battery. Check that the battery contacts and LCD window are clean and free of condensation.
15/ Readings fluctuate or jump.
Ensure the jaws are clean and free of chips or burrs. Zero-set again, and make measurements with a consistent sliding speed.
16/ Buttons are unresponsive.
Clean around the keys with a dry, soft brush. Avoid pressing too hard; if the problem persists, internal cleaning may be required. Please contact QTE Technologies (qtetech.com/en).
17/ The caliper won’t turn off automatically.
Confirm no measurement session is locking the display (e.g., Hold mode). Manually power off by holding the ON/OFF button.
