The Climomaster 6501-00 is a handheld hot-wire anemometer by Kanomax Japan designed for precision airflow measurement. It’s commonly used in HVAC testing, indoor air quality investigations, clean-room certification, HEPA filter performance checks, turbulent flow studies, and industrial process monitoring.
A fine heated wire (hot-wire) is exposed to the airflow. As air passes over the wire, it cools and changes its resistance. The instrument maintains the wire at a constant temperature by adjusting current. The required current directly correlates to the local air velocity.
Air velocity
Airflow (when used with duct or orifice probes)
Temperature (with optional temperature probe)
Relative humidity (with optional humidity sensor)
Differential pressure (with the 6501-CE pressure version)
Parameter | Range | Resolution | Accuracy |
---|---|---|---|
Air velocity | 0.01 to 50.00 m/s | 0.01 m/s | ±2 % of reading or ±0.015 m/s |
2 to 9 840 ft/min | 1 ft/min | ±3 ft/min for ft/min units |
Yes. The 6501 series supports up to eight hot-wire probes, plus dedicated temperature, humidity, or pressure probes. Probes are plug-and-play - no recalibration is required when swapping.
Use a unidirectional probe for known, laminar airflow directions (e.g., straight ducts).
Use an omnidirectional probe for turbulent or multi-directional flows.
For tight or inaccessible spaces, choose the miniature or right-angle probes.
Yes. The 6501 series features automatic atmospheric pressure compensation, ensuring accurate velocity readings even at high altitudes.
It can store up to 20 000 readings. To download:
Connect the USB cable to your PC.
Launch the Kanomax DataViewer or compatible software.
Import the data log and export to CSV for analysis.
Power: 6× AA batteries (alkaline or Ni-MH) or optional AC adapter (100–240 V, 50/60 Hz)
Battery life: ~20–30 hours continuous (alkaline cells)
Low-battery indicator on display
To power on: press and hold the Power button for ~2 seconds.
Use the Menu button to navigate measurement modes.
To power off: press and hold the Power button again until the display goes blank.
After use, gently wipe probes with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Avoid aggressive solvents or abrasive materials.
Store the main unit and probes in the supplied hard case away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Inspect hot-wire probes periodically for damage or contamination; replace if necessary.
Standard one-point factory calibration certificate.
Optional JCSS (Japan Calibration Service System) three-point calibration.
Expanded multi-point calibration (up to six points) for specialized applications.
Calibration reminders automatically appear when due.
Replacement or alternative hot-wire probes (unidirectional, omnidirectional, miniature)
Temperature/humidity combo probes
2 m, 5 m, 10 m, or 20 m extension cables
External analog output module (6501-CE version)
Data analysis software license
Protective carrying and hands-free straps
AC power adapter
